Storm over the headland (Scarborough North Bay)
This painting was the result of a stormy day trip to Scarborough back in May 2022.
We came into Scarborough via the North Bay and saw this mass of storm cloud moving over the headland. The castle was silhouetted but defined by beams of light breaking through the cloud. The row of hotels and houses perched up on the cliff top were in full sunlight and bleached out against the darkness of the approaching storm. We managed to get to the south bay before the clouds opened and we experienced an incredible down poor that lasted ten minutes or more. Luckily, we and our ice creams managed to keep dry!
