Into the Light (Lindisfarne Castle - Northumberland)

This piece pays homage to the works of J.W.M.Turner, the artist who influenced me the most as an art student and his influence still continues in my work today.

I am in no way trying to replicate a Turner here, but instead have used elements of his paintings and added my own twist.  In this painting the swirling storm clouds are reminiscent of Turner’s ‘Snow Storm: Hannibal and his Army Crossing the Alps’ and the weather worn sea defences taking reference from some of Turner’s nautical paintings.

My work aims to capture the light, form and drama of the landscape, something I loved in Turners work.
