Distant Light (Top Withens - Bronte Country)
This painting was inspired by a walk to Top Withens back in March 2015. I still recall the colours, set ablaze by the distant light, streaming down through breaks in the winter sky.
The weather was perfect for the kind of painting I had in mind, although the temperature was about 10 degrees colder than I would have liked and we were walking head on into a barrage of rain and sleet that stung our faces.
The solitude of the Top Withens ancient ruins only being broken by two weather worn trees that stand like sentinels; the only witnesses to the passing of time in this bleak landscape
