Dark & Light (Dunstanburgh Castle - Northumberland)
Possibly one of my most painted landmarks. The approach from Low Newton-by-the-sea presents this once great castle as a mythical ruin, steeped in history and witness to decades of storms.
The beach is laden with volcanic boulders, smoothed over thousands of years by the action of the sea, adding to the atmosphere.
The cliffs whitewashed by the migrant birds that nest on their narrow edges, their shrill cries softened by the crashing waves, which slowly immerse the shoreline once again.
